Welcome to the SQL Pass Book Readers!

What:  We are a book club that reads a book about SQL or a related data technology.  We will all read from the same book over the course of several months.   We will meet each month to discuss what we have read.  Often, we will have the author join us.

Who:  SQL Server MVP Ike Ellis and C# MVP Brad Cunningham will host every meeting.  We we lead each discussion, along with other SQL Server MVP guests who will join us as needed.  Azure MVP Scott Reed will also join us when available.

But most importantly, we need you!  Come and participate.  This isn't a group where we hear from a speaker for an hour.  This is where you read a book with us and ask questions about the content.  Other group members will be free to answer!

When:  We will meet on the third Wednesday of every month at 12pm Pacific

Which book?:  That's a great question!  I think we'll start with Itzik Ben-Gan's T-SQL Fundementals for SQL Server 2012.  It can be purchased here:

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft%C2%AE-Server%C2%AE-T-SQL-Fundamentals-ebook/dp/B008HMNPZK/ref=tmm_kin_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1360113050&sr=8-1

The Future:  We have lots of books to read, and we'll never run out of topics!  I want to read books on SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power View, PowerPivot, Disaster Recovery, Scaling, Entity Framework, Excel, Performance Tuning, and lots of T-SQL.  I want to read books by Kalen Delaney, Ben Nevarez, Brian Knight, Teo Lachev, Paul Randall, Itzik Ben-Gan, Brent Ozar, Brian Larson and more!    I'd like to learn about Hadoop, MongoDB, Cassandra, SQL Azure, and a ton of other stuff.  I hope you'll join me in learning these things together.  Everything is so much more fun that way!

About Ike & Brad & Rob:

Ike Ellis is a partner of The Monastery, a software craftsmanship shop.  He's been a SQL Server MVP since 2010.  He has 17 years of experience writing software and working with SQL Server.  He's the principal SQL course author and instructor for DevelopMentor.  His twitter handle is @ike_ellis.   He's on FaceBook and LinkedIn and is generally a pretty friendly guy.

Brad Cunningham has been a C# MVP since 2008.  He's always on the cutting edge of software development, writing for the new web, mobile, and enterprise solutions.  His code has been featured all over the internet, on numerous pod casts and user groups.  You can find him on twitter as @foovanadil.  His website is http://www.bradcunningham.net.  He's excited to meet all of you!

Rob is a bona fide Alpha Nerd, SQL Server DBA by day and code slinger by night. He is the SQL Dude for Tekpub, open source contributor to .NET Micro ORMS, speaker and can occasionally be found on This Developers Life. In his free time, he frequents various user groups in Oklahoma City or pretty much anywhere that has pizza.

Sorry, there are no upcoming meetings. Please come back another time.
